Mission Statement

The Earth Speaks

As long as I can remember, I have been in love with nature and wildlife.  When I was a young child, I was obsessed with dinosaurs, apes, big cats, sharks, reptiles, amphibians(you get the picture, haha!) and learning about the evolution of our planet.  Throughout the years, as I grew into young adulthood, although I may have experienced many changes and interests and walked several paths leading myself to the man I am today, my love of our Earth and its creatures has always been present.

I can recall in 2006, a year which marked a significant and at times tumultuous change in my life, finding a book of my sister’s called Daybreak 2000.  It is a magnificent collection of photographs from all over our planet taken at dawn on January 1st, 2000, the beginning of a new age.  Not only is this a book of beautiful photographs, but it is a book which relays a very important message regarding the world we live in.  The dedication in the opening pages is a statement which has echoed within and helped inspire me since the moment I read it… “To the leading nature photographers of 2999.  May they inherit a living planet for Daybreak 3000.”

Our world today, for all of our intelligence and technology, also faces countless horrors.  Between climate change and the possible extinction of some of our most iconic inhabitants, I sometimes shudder to think of our future if we do not make some significant changes.  Can you imagine an Earth without lions, wolves, or great whites?!  A landscape completely altered due to lack of ice to balance the fire…  These are scary thoughts, but I have and will always be an optimist, a dreamer, and a believer.  In conjunction with these horrors, there are also countless heroes and enthusiasts fighting to protect the wonders and the beauty of our natural world.

It is my dream, that throughout the course of my life, my photographs and my words will not only bring peace and enjoyment to peoples’ everyday lives, but that they may also become a voice for the sanctuary of our Earth.  That myself along with many others can make a difference and that our children and generations to come may walk into the Yosemite Valley, Yellowstone, and the Great Smoky Mountains to name a few!  That they will inherit a harmonious planet full of beautiful ancient forests, ice-capped mountains, untamed oceans, lions, wolves, great whites… abundant wilderness and wildlife in thriving ecosystems!  Most simply, an Earth which still encompasses the life we hold sacred today.
